This is the story of a dedicated small town volunteer firefighter. It is told from the point of view of a child growing up in the home of that fireman and spans a period from about 1955 through approximately 1980. It tells about the trials and adventures of that fireman and how they affected both family and community.
The small town described could be anywhere in the United States and the hero is a compliation of many firefighters in many towns or cities throughout the country. Although the hero, Jack, aka" The Old Man", is the focal point of the story, he could be any fireman anywhere doing the same things for his community that have made the Old Man legend in his own small town.
If you are a firefighter, volunteer or professional, this book is for and about YOU.
